[National Movement for Social Justice is the catalyst of this change]
(16 January 2015) The National Executive Council to be established to bring in essential constitutional amendments and create good governance in the country will be convened today (15th) at 5.00 p.m. say reports.
The JVP proposed the establishment of the National Executive Council targeting the urgent reforms that should be carried out as a part of the 100 day programme of ‘Maithri’ administration. All parties agreed to the proposal and it would be convened today.
Leaders representing all political parties and representatives of several civil organizations are expected to participate. President Maithripala Sirisena, former president Chandrika Bandaranayke Kumaratunga, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Leader of the JVP Anura Dissanayaka, Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero representing the JHU, M. Sumanthiran representing the TNA, the Leader of the SLMC Rauff Hakeem and the Leader of the Democratic People’s Front Mano Ganeshan are among those who would participate at the Council today.
