Sri Lanka govt to enat a ‘National Intelligence Act’

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved drafting of a new Bill titled ‘National Intelligence Act’ to regulate and empower all intelligence services, says the Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr.Bandula Gunawardene.This was announced during the media briefing held today (15) at the Government Information Department Auditoprium to announce Cabinet decisions.

National intelligence services of the country make exceptional efforts to forecast and take necessary measures to prevent the incidents that pose threats to national security, as well as to present recommendations in this regard.Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers, that met yesterday, approved the proposal tabled by State Minister of Defence Chamal Rajapaksa calling for the drafting of a Bill to regulate and empower all intelligence services.
