United nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders, Mary Lawlor releasing UN communication dated 17 August 2021 to the Government of Sri Lanka says that although GoSL replied it did not answer all questions.
In the said communication UN has raised questions about threats to Sudesh Nandimal Silva, HRD & General Secretary of the Committee for the Protection of Prisoners Rights, Senaka Perera, HRD, Lawyer and President of the Committee for the Protection of Prisoners Rights, Tharindu Jayawardhana, HRD and a journalist and Joseph Stalin HRD and a Trade Union leader.
Now Public: communication to #SriLanka about threats, harassment and arrest of Human Rights Defenders. I'm particularly concerned by the perceived inaction of the State to respond to threats.
