Military File Related to Eknaligoda Abduction Gone Missing

Homagama court was told on 23rd May that a report obtained from the Army Commander giving details of the soldiers who visited the Akkaraipattu army camp and left on January 25,2010 had gone missing reports the Island. This information was divulged by that CID SP Shani Abeysekera, making a statement before court.

Homagama Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake further remanded seven suspects taken into custody in connection with the alleged abduction and disappearance of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda after the court hearing.

SP Shani Abeysekera had further said that a statement had been obtained from Capt.Wickremesionghe, who was in-charge of the camp on the day in question and he had identified some of the signatures on the attendance register of Jan 26, 2010 and he had taken the responsibility for the other signatures in the register on the statements made by drivers. He said three of the drivers were recognised and of them two had already retired while the other had deserted.

The Magistrate ordered the CID to conduct further investigations and submit a report to court on June 07, reports the Island.
