Parliament, Dec. 11 (Daily Mirror)- The entire population of Sri Lanka is to be registered with the police in the wake of increased crimes, Minister of Public Security Tiran Allas told Parliament today.
Responding to a question raised by MP Mano Ganesan that the Tamil community, especially those in Colombo are being registered by the police.
“We have decided to register the entire population irrespective of the ethnic groups they belong to. I will see to it that registration forms printed in all three languages will be distributed,” he said.
“We will create an online data base of the Sri Lankan population so that anyone can be identified at any time,” he added.
