This is Ishara Harsha Kumara (29), the young man who died after being arrested and interrogated by the Homagama Police today.
This young man, who was in perfectly good health when taken in for questioning, was brought back unable to even walk and bleeding from his mouth. When his wife questioned this, the police had claimed that he was suffering from drug withdrawal symptoms (“sick”) and would be fine if given a “hit” (a piece of drugs).
Later, the young man’s lifeless body was taken to the Homagama Hospital in the police vehicle itself.
Now, the police are doing everything they can to cover up this crime. They have locked the gates, barred anyone from entering, and cut off all access to the other suspect who was inside the cell and witnessed everything. Furthermore, information has been received that they are planning to plant 10 grams on that witnessing suspect and file a High Court case against him tomorrow.
