A young Tamil musician, Ganesh Kumar Sankeethan (24) from Udayanagar-West, Kilinochchi, was ordered to be remanded by Chavakachcheri Magistrate today, after he was arrested under the PTA by Kilinochchi police on Tuesday (2), accusing him of performing a song in memory of war dead.
The Jaffna Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau says that the suspect had edited four songs from the event and uploaded them to his TikTok account, portraying them as dedicated to or supportive of the LTTE.
The suspect was produced before court along with his mobile phone on charges under Section 03(g) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, No. 48 of 1978.
Following proceedings, the court ordered that he be remanded until June 17, 2026.
Further inquiries into the incident are being conducted jointly by the Jaffna Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Chavakachcheri Police Headquarters. ( with the inputs from Newswire and X)
