These traitors [Muslims] must not be allowed to live in freedom [in Sri Lanka] – Warakagoda Gnanarathna Thero

Rough translation of comments by the Asgiriya Mahanayake: “We got to know some good news. That in the future, Chamal Rajapaksa will become President. This is in fact cause for happiness. We didn’t know this before. I call upon Mayantha Dissanayake as well to join that side to build and protect this country. The Muslims don’t love us. Earlier Mayantha Dissanayake spoke. I also say don’t go to those (Muslim) shops. Don’t eat from those shops. This is well known.

That this is a community who poisoned our people and tried to destroy our people is very clear. It is very clear. Because of this, Buddhists must protect themselves. Don’t go to those shops. Don’t buy from those shops. The young people who ate from those shops, I think, will not be able to have/lose their children. You should know this.

10 to 15 years ahead – we may not be there then – but these are the coming colours. When you think about what’s happened in the past, those children are going to be destitute. This country is going to be destitute. And then that doctor and his heroics. Everyone knows this. He has destroyed thousands of our children.

These traitors must not be allowed to live in freedom. Some female devotees said that they should be stoned to death. I don’t say this, but what should be done is this. If this sort of violence had been done by one of our kind to their kind, he would have been quartered and killed.

These so called laws won’t work. We need to unite as Sinhalese and as Buddhists. Voting as usual for a particular colour isn’t going to work. We need to select a suitable person, suitable MPs, and then send them to Parliament. We need to send to Parliament those who think about and love our race. Even though hordes will come, inquire very carefully this time. We need to come together. We are giving advice, without fear. Join us. We will show the right way.”
