Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera has said that Sri Lanka will take stern action against any person irrespective of status if the allegations made by the UN working group that some of the people whom they met had later been questioned by a third party, are proven.
Minister Samaraweera Addressing the media at Sirikotha, the UNP headquarters. He was of the view that some of the officials could still be influenced by the practices of the former government reported, Ceylon Daily News.
Meanwhile Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mahishini Colonne has too reiterated that the government will investigate claims made by the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (UNWGEID) including claims of a ‘secret’ detention centre operated in Trincomalee where detainees had been allegedly tortured, reported the Daily Mirror.
