Relatives of disappeared persons staged a peaceful protest today against ongoing arrests in Northern and Eastern provinces by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID).
They claimed that at least ten recent arrests are made arbitrarily in ‘white van style’ where the detainees were picked up by the officials in civil and no official receipt was given at the time of the arrest.
The protesters started from UN office in Colombo where they handed over a petition to the officials and followed to Prime Minister’s office. Later they went to the Foreign Affairs ministry and met the officials with their memorandum.
