Sri Lanka: Police visits exiled journalist’s family

Police at the gate of Nilanthan family house.

Even in exile, journalist Selvakumar Nilanthan is being harassed. Tow plain clothes police officers recently visited his family, demanding the reporter’s presence before antiterrorist police CTID.

The reporter, who feared being arrested and tortured for his work, was forced to flee Sri Lanka eight months ago. Journalists from the Tamil minority are routinely arrested by the police, who have been multiplying fallacious accusations of terrorism.

In a tweet #RSF has urged security forces to cease such persecution.
