In what appears to be a significant change of their stance, the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) yesterday said that everyone should appreciate the sole fact that at least the opposition was able to give a May Day rally for people in Jaffna.
Commenting on the allegation that the Eelam flag was promoted during the May Day Rally, the JHU also said one should not try to gain political advantages through a simple footage of one person showing an Eelam flag.
“What is important and should be highlighted is that both the UNP and TNA held it under the National Flag. Especially, TNA leader R. Sampanthan carrying the national flag should be highlighted,” JHU national organizer Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said.
He also asked as to why the security forces or the police failed to arrest or question the individual who was promoting LTTE flag so far when he could be identified clearly even in the video footage.
