Police stop peace march citing Buddhist clergy opposition

Sri Lankan police stopped a peace march on Saturday, stating that “they wanted to prevent any unruly incidents as Buddhist monks and other people were against the march,” the Daily Mirror reported. The march, which was due to take place in Waskaduwa, was organised by the United Socialist Party.
