The Sri Lankan Military engaged in propaganda in Vanni asking to vote for the present president Mahinda, according to the statements of the reports Global Tamil News.
The Military exerted pressure in various ways on people in Vanni to vote for Mahinda, one of our correspondents stated. Meanwhile, the Military stated in some places that the disappeared persons would be released by Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Military personnel asked the people to think whether Ranil or Mahinda is good to them. In addition, the Military reminded the people that Karuna was broken out by Ranil. Also, they told the people that the people would again be subjected to displacement as the war begins in case Ranil comes to power.
The Military engaged in the election campaign for Mahinda saying the President Mahinda will implement many more developments and the Military further emphasized that Maitri would do nothing for the Tamils.
Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently engaged in election campaign in the North and East. He also engaged in election campaign at Killinochchi and Mullaitivu districts in the Northern Province.
“The president’s election campaign occurs at Mullaitivu that was the stronghold of the LTTE terrorists earlier and being developed now”, President Mahinda tweeted.
Though some of the campaigns opposing Mahinda took place in the East, there is no election campaign from the opposition side has been taken place in North so far. Making use of this situation to get advantage, the Military engaged in propaganda for Mahinda.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s election campaign banners have been placed everywhere. Meanwhile, the Military personnel keep on distributing the leaflets and posters.
While the stance of TNA in this presidential election is yet to be announced, the people are so much confused in casting their votes, one of the political observers told the Global Tamil News.
However, making the best use of this situation, the ruling party and the Military are being engaged in various activities with the intention of receiving the votes from the Tamils in North, the sources revealed to the Global Tamil News.
