‘JVP rebel group controlled by foreign spy service’

A foreign spy service may be guiding the rebel group of the JVP which had always adopted a two pronged policy of democracy and revolution, National Freedom Front leader and Construction Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said.

He said the small rebel group is waiting for the dawn of the ‘day of struggle’ like the Benghazi rebels.

Minister Weerawansa said that the majority of the JVP is in the democratic stream contesting elections. The same foreign spy service which controls the rebel group attacked him and others as part of its attack on the national movement. They chased them away and wanted the party to get out of the nationalist stand. They wanted to turn the JVP into a political party similar to the Nawa Samasamaja Party (NSSP).

“First they chased us away and secondly they tried to capture power within the party. When those two groups were together, the party could not be dragged to one side.

Now the two groups have been separated. The rebels fell out of the party and as a result they became a separate group.

Minister Weerawansa said outsiders may see this as a plus point and something positive. But it is not. Since the Benghazi type rebels are together, they can work towards achieving their target easier than before. “The main objective of the world and regional giants is creating a civil war in Sri Lanka and making a ‘small Nigeria’ here. They can interfere and intervene if there is a struggle, conflict or problem. The elements which shed tears when the LTTE was eradicated are trying to make the country unstable.

“They have to create a small Nigeria in Sri Lanka to plunder wealth and set up a pro-colonial government, minister Weerawansa said.
