Follow EC’s Directions in All Recruitment

Secretary to the President tells Ministry Secretaries.
Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon in a special circular to all Ministry Secretaries and Provincial Secretaries has informed them that recruitment, appointments and promotions in the government service should be carried out in compliance with the directives issued by the Elections Commissioner during the election period.

The Secretary to the President has stated in his circular that he has received information that some government institutions are carrying out promotions, transfers and recruitment without following the proper procedure laid out by the Elections Commissioner during the election period.

He said the Elections Commissioner has outlined clearly the process to be adopted for promotions, recruitment and transfer of government servants during the election period.

He said the Government servants are bound to extend their fullest cooperation to the Elections Commissioner to ensure that the 2015 election is conducted in a free and fair manner.

The Secretary to the President also said that vehicles issued to the personal staff of Ministers, Deputy Ministers and State Ministers other than their private Secretaries should be handed over to the respective Ministry Secretary.

The Government is to pay an allowance of Rs.30,000 to the officers of their private staff who had already handed over their vehicles to the respective secretaries.

The Secretary to the President issued this special circular on July 17, 2015 which is effective till the conclusion of the General election.

Abeykoon said that such officials could hand over their vehicles to the Ministry till July 20 and action would be taken against those who are keeping these state vehicle in violation of the instructions issued by him through the circular.
