A person who stole three papayas to feed his hungry children was ordered to deposit 50,000 rupees for bail and to appear in court again on November 27.
Acting Magistrate Prasanna Kodithuvakku of the Deiendara Magistrate’s Court heard the case.
The accused Sudham Kumara was a resident of Chulampitiya village, Vepathaira, Hakmana.
Lawyer Champika Gamage, who appeared for the suspect, told the court that he did this because he could not feed his children properly for many days.
On the instructions of Hakmana Police Station Chief Inspector Sanath Kumara Sergeant Somesira appeared against the accused.
