Easter Sunday Attacks: Reports of the Ranil Wickremasinghe appointed 2 commitees in full

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe  appointed a Committee of Inquiry to investigate the actions taken by the State Intelligence Service (SIS), Chief of National Intelligence (CNI), and other relevant authorities concerning prior intelligence received about the bomb attacks on 21 April 2019.

The Committee of Inquiry was chaired by A.N.J. De Alwis, Retired Judge of the High Court. Other esteemed members of the committee include SLAS special grade Officer K.N.K. Somaratne and Senior Lawyer W.M.A.N. Nishane, AAL.

The new government headed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has rejected the report as politically biased.

In September 2023 former President Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed a three-member committee to investigate the  Channel 4 aired a documentary titled ‘Sri Lanka’s Easter Bombings’ with serious and straightforward allegations about the bombings.

The committee is chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice S.I. Imam with retired Air Force Commander A.C.M. Jayalath Weerakkody and Harsha A.J. Soza PC.

This report too has not been accepted by the new government headed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka.
