He made the remarks at a ceremony at his Ministry in Colombo after the signing of an agreement to develop the Atchuveli Industrial Zone in the Jaffna peninsula. Present on the occasion were UN officials in Colombo and the Indian High Commissioner Ashok Kantha.
Earlier, the government had wanted to present only the observations and the recommendations of the final report of the LLRC. Mr. Rajapaksa said the full text of the final LLRC report was now being translated.
As exclusively revealed in the Sunday Times last week, President Mahinda Rajapaksa will table the report in Parliament. He will also explain the government’s road map to implement the Commission’s recommendations. Though a firm date is yet to be finalised for the presentation, government sources said it was likely to be tabled on December 21 before the House goes into recess.
