(Sri Lanka Brief/ 25 November 2025) The Director of “Thalam” has been summoned to appear before the Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Unit.
Dr. C. Hayakirivan (Karthi Hayan), one of the leading activists and directors of “Thalam”, which has been working for the past seven years in the areas of education, employment and skill development of the youth of Trincomalee, has been summoned by CTID to appear before the Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Unit in Trincomalee on 28.11.2025.
“Thalam” is an organization that has been carrying out various activities related to the education, employment and skill development of the youth in a self-reliant manner since 2018 with the relevant registrations as a community-level organization in Trincomalee. Through this, it has been providing guidance to many youth and has also been illuminating their lives.
In this situation, officials from the Counter Terrorism Unit visited the “Thalam” office today and handed over this summons to the office official.
Since the beginning of this year, the Counter Terrorism Unit has conducted several investigations into the officials, participants and students of the Thalam organization, and now they have been summoned to the Counter Terrorism Unit.
Furthermore, Dr. C. Hayakirivan (Karthi Hayan) is a person who has been working as a social activist and a journalist. He works as a Shakthi News First regional journalist. Such actions by the government are a step towards intimidating activists.
