A committee chaired by former Solicitor General President’s Counsel Rienzi Arsakularatne has been appointed to submit suitable proposals to further improve the final draft prepared by the Legal Draftsman to amend the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
The proposal was presented to the Cabinet meeting held on February 19 by the Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara, and approval was granted for it.
The Anti-Terrorism Bill submitted by the previous government to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act was challenged in court, and the Legal Draftsman has prepared further amendments to it and the above committee is going to further improve the draft.
