Issuing a statement on the extrajudicial killing of H.L. Lasantha alias Tinkering Lasantha by Kaluthra police, Sri Lanka Bar Association says that they had informed the Inspector General of Police of the complaint received form his lawyer. The lawyer, Sanjaya Ariyadasa has informed the BASL president that his client will be killed in custody by the police.
The statement further says that “the fact not only BASL but also the HRCSL and a senior figure from the executive had reached out to the police to prevent a grave violation and the killing occurred such intervention are matters of very grave concern.”
