The University of Jaffna Teachers’ Association held a protest against the politicisation of university affairs by the Sri Lankan government, reports Uthayan.
Lecturers gathered at university entrance on Tuesday, demanding that the government cease from interfering in university affairs.
Citing the example of the university budget being diverted to the Sri Lankan military run leadership training program, the lecturers stated that government interference has hindered university education. Salaries were also not being paid consistently, complained the lecturers, adding that more protests would take place.
