Inspired by: Mahathma Gandhi led Indian Freedom struggle’s Boycott of British Goods; South African anti- Apartheid boycott campaign & Martin Luther King’s Bus boycott against discrimination of blacks in the US.
Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is initiating a worldwide campaign of boycott, divestment and sanction (BDS) against Sri Lanka.
This boycott campaign will be against Sri Lankan goods, Sri Lankan Airlines, and Sri Lankan cricket, among others.
As a first step, meetings are organized in different cities around the world to explain the importance of this economic pressure, exploration of innovative ideas and feedback from Tamils around the globe.
TGTE will work with other ongoing Sri Lanka boycott campaigns undertaken by various organizations around the world.
TGTE also is initiating a competition for young Tamils worldwide for short film to highlight the importance of boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) and to identify specific targets of Sri Lankan goods and services. Finally, let us be inspired by the historically significant boycott campaigns, such as the Swadeshi campaign in India’s freedom struggle – boycotting British goods led by the great Mahatma Gandhi, the anti-Apartheid Boycott campaign against South Africa that included the boycott of South African cricket, and in the United States the Montgomery Bus Boycott led by Rev. Martin Luther King to achieve rights of the African-Americans, during segregation and discrimination against blacks.
We call upon all Diaspora Tamils and their friends to join this worldwide campaign to boycott, divestment and sanction (BDS) against Sri Lanka.

Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is a new political concept. It is a new political formation based on the principles of nationhood, homeland and self-determination. The raison dâetre for the TGTE is lack of political space inside the island of Sri Lanka for the Tamils to articulate and realize their political aspirations fully due to Constitutional impediments, racist political environment and military strangulation; and the coordination of diaspora political activities based on democratic principles and the rule of law.
