Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene said new members will be appointed to the independent commissions soon.

SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha who questioned the issue said how can the Police Commission be considered an independent body any more?

“We noted the presence of Chandra Fernando and M. P. Perera at the airport to welcome Basil Rajapaksa. Police Commission is bound to be independent. Therefore, how could those members be present to welcome Basil?” he questioned.

“New members will be appointed to CC soon,” the Speaker said in response again. Meanwhile, MP S. M. Marikkar questioned how come Basil Rajapaksa was allowed to use the VIP lounge, he is not even an MP and how he was allowed to use the VIP lounge?” he questioned.
