Former UN official Mr. Gordon Weiss who served in Sri Lanka during the war will deliver 9th annual Mullivaikal Memorial Lecture on 18th May 2023.
Mr. Weiss’s United Nations career spans two decades and many nations, including serving as UN spokesperson in Sri Lanka during the final stage of the armed conflict, about which he authored the critically acclaimed non-fiction The Cage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvEs97YDk5E
The Memorial Lecture is named after the location called Mullivaikal, in the island of Sri Lanka, where according to the UN Internal Review Report around 70 thousand Tamils were killed in the final six months of the war and Tamil women were sexually assaulted and raped by the Sri Lankan Security Forces.
The lecture is organised by Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE).
