The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested the former Chairman of the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha, Ashoka Wickremasinghe.
Ashoka Wickremasinghe, who was the former Chairman of the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha, was arrested by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers yesterday (9) on charges of forging documents linked to a house in the Kataragama area that belongs to the Rajapaksa family and committing fraud. The CID arrested Ashoka Wickremasinghe after investigations revealed that irregular approval had been granted based on forged documents prepared by him for a construction project near the Menik River in the Kataragama area belonging to Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
This is the first arrest that has been made by the CID in connection with the controversial no owner claimed closed mansion in Kataragama.
