Former JVP Councillor Remanded Over Alleged Drug Packaging Operation

The former JVP municipal councillor for the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council, Tuan Ayub Mohamed, was remanded after being produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today (17 November). Mohamed was arrested by the Colombo Central Crime Unit on 14 November at a digital printing establishment on Galle Road, Mount Lavinia, which he owns.

During the raid, police seized stickers and a printing machine allegedly used to package heroin and ‘ice’ drugs. Mohamed has previously served as a JVP municipal councillor and as the party’s organiser for the Dehiwala electorate.

After considering the facts presented, Acting Magistrate Chathura Sugathapala ordered Mohamed to be remanded until tomorrow (18 November). Attorney-at-Law Mathugama appeared in court on behalf of the suspect.
