After the Mannar Headquarters police took into custody three youths as suspects on a complaint made to the police by a female District Secretary that she was sexually molested, the Minister for Industries and trade, Rishard Badurdeen and his supporters had raided the police station and forcibly removed the three suspects in police custody and gone away.
The District Secretary who was the chief guest at a New year celebration in a village in Mannar had been subjected to this molestation.
It is well to recall that this same Minister and his supporters were earlier too involved in an incident where they had entered the Mannar police headquarters station and assaulted two police officers right before the open eyes of the Chief Inspector of the station.
