Launches Online Portal and Hotline for Rs. 200,000 Assistance Applications
Over 3,200 industries have reported losses from Cyclone Ditwah, according to preliminary data from the Industry Ministry, which cautioned that numbers will rise as assessments continue.
Reported damage spans:
- 138 large-scale industries
- 718 medium-scale industries
- 1,134 small-scale industries
- 1,009 micro-scale industries
- 285 export-oriented industries
Gampaha District currently records the highest number of affected enterprises. Officials stressed that figures reflect only entries in the Ministry’s database so far.
As part of the Government’s recovery plan, Rs. 200,000 grants will be offered to registered businesses to restore basic operations. Eligible applicants include those registered with the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry or affiliated agencies such as the Export Development Board, Industrial Development Board, and others.
Applications can be submitted via www.industry.gov.lk or through designated officers at District and Divisional Secretariats. A dedicated hotline (071 266 6660) and reporting platform have been introduced for verified damage data. Businesses must submit loss details by 2 p.m. on 16 December through www.industry.gov.lk or aid.floodsupport.org/business-impact.
The Ministry said the information will guide relief coordination and future support for rebuilding affected industries.
