The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has filed indictments against former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda and Yoshitha Rajapaksa over the circumstances surrounding the latter’s entry into the Sri Lanka Navy.
According to the indictment, Karannagoda is accused of unlawfully facilitating the recruitment of Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and arranging foreign training for him in violation of established procedures. Yoshitha Rajapaksa has been charged with aiding and abetting these actions.
Following the submission of the indictments, the Colombo High Court ordered both accused to be released on bail.
