The JVP-run news website ‘lankatruth’ reports that the wife of Mahinda Rajapaksa and former First Lady, Shiranthi Rajapaksa, purchased a house worth about Rs. 400 million in the Torrington area under the name Mary Louds Wickramasinghe.

The Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption has revealed that the address of this house, 260/17 Torrington Mawatha, was also used as the address of Namal Rajapaksa’s CSN television channel.
This house was given to Mahinda Rajapaksa on a lease basis with the intervention of Ranil Wickramasinghe during Ranil Wickramasinghe’s tenure as Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004.
After Mahinda Rajapaksa became President, the relevant house was purchased freehold under the name of Shiranthi Rajapaksa’s real name, Mary Louds Wickramasinghe.
The Bribery Commission is investigating how the Rs. 400 million spent on this was earned, and the sale or alienation of this property has been prohibited.
