Breaking: HAMAS Leader’s Official Statement On Ceasefire Deal

“When studying and reading the plan, three factors were taken into account before making any decision.

I. The first factor was our determination to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, to bring them relief, and to end this ongoing massacre and their suffering—especially after they have endured nearly two years with steadfastness, without abandoning their land.

II. The second factor was our national responsibility. Other Palestinian factions have shared in the resistance, and others are present in Gaza. It was necessary to consult with them. III. The third factor was the support that has been extended to us at the Arab and Islamic levels. As for the plan itself, it can also be broken down into three main parts. 1. The first is about an immediate halt to the war: ending the suffering, bringing in aid, withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, and conducting a prisoner exchange. On this point, we welcomed the efforts made at the Arab, Islamic, and international levels, as well as the efforts of President Trump. We said we are ready to enter into direct negotiations to carry out the exchange and create the right conditions on the ground for it. That’s the first part.

(Interviewer: What exactly does Hamas mean by entering into negotiations? What issues need to be negotiated right now?)

“There are arrangements that must be agreed upon.

First, the procedures of the exchange itself: the numbers, the necessary environment to carry it out, the handover of bodies, the halt of aggression so it can proceed, the Israeli withdrawal from areas, the return of displaced Palestinians, the entry of aid. All of these come together as one package. We said we are ready to immediately enter negotiations to finalize these.

The second part of the plan concerns the administration of Gaza after the fighting stops. Here, we reaffirmed the position agreed upon a year ago, under Arab sponsorship: the formation of a Palestinian national body composed of independent Palestinian figures to administer Gaza, with a specific mechanism linking it to the Palestinian Authority in order to preserve Palestinian political unity.

We agreed to this a year ago, and we still adhere to it. And I must stress—this position stems from national responsibility. We will not accept that Gaza, as part of Palestine, be administered by any non-Palestinian party.

The third part concerns future issues—about the Palestinian state, ending the conflict, and so forth. We said Hamas does not monopolize the right to answer such questions. These require a collective national response, involving all Palestinian forces. We will play a constructive role, but Hamas alone cannot answer them.”
