For the first time in Sri Lanka’s police history, several women officers have been elevated to prominent roles in major divisions, including the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

A total of 54 senior officers, comprising four women, have been reassigned with immediate effect, following the approval of the National Police Commission. The reshuffle also includes four Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs).
Notably, SSP H.W.I.S. Muthumala, who previously served as the Deputy Director of the CID, has been promoted to **Director of the CID**, taking over from SSP E.M.M.S. Dehideniya. SSP Dehideniya has been reassigned as the new SSP in charge of the Nugegoda Division.
