Sri Lanka wants Japan to arrange  meeting of international donors to help rebuild the war-ravaged north and east of the island, visiting Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

“We also look forward to Japan contributing to national reconciliation and peace building in Sri Lanka,” he said in an address to Japanese parliamentarians in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Wickremesinghe recalled how Japan had helped the island with economic aid especially during the ethnic conflict and also in peace talks with Tamil separatists.

“Once again we are seeking Japanese assistance to summon a meeting of donors to assist in the reconstruction and revitalisation of the socio economy of the conflict affected areas,” he said. (Colombo/October 06 2015)
