Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) headed by Champika Ranawaka has called upon the Tamil National Alliance to join the common opposition and to support Maithripala Sirisena for the presidency, reports Ceylon Today.

JHU General Secretary, Champika Ranawaka, addressing a special media briefing at Solis Hotel Pitakotte, has said that his Party had requested the TNA to support the Common Opposition. He has added, “From now on, we shall be independent members in Parliament. All the Parties in the Opposition are uniting to form a national alliance government. This is not a Sinhala Buddhist government. The issues we are confronting right now,. in this country, are common to Sinhalese, Tamils and the Muslims. The common Opposition Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena, when taking part in a media discussion said, he would not sign any secret agreements”
