The harassment of senior Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) members by the governing party has commenced with the party’s chairman, MP Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero.
The governing party has commenced harassing the JHU members after the party quit the government and resigned from the ministerial portfolios.
The Kotte Municipal Council has claimed that Ven. Rathana Thero’s ashram in Rajagiriya has been set up in a land belonging to the Council.
The Council has also said the land was earmarked for garbage dumping.
It was reported this afternoon that several governing party councilors in the Kotte Municipal Council were gathering people to surround Ven. Rathana Thero’s temple.
Police personnel were deployed to the temple.
There were around 10 Buddhist monks in the temple at the time.
However, the governing party councilors refrained from attacking the temple.
