The Government has taken steps to construct a holding centre under the Department of Immigration and Emigration to detain the foreigners who are arrested for staying in the island contravening the provisions of the Immigration and Emigration Act, the Department of Immigration and Emigration sources said.
According to the sources, this holding centre will construct in a land extent of 100 perches in Gallegedara Grama Niladhari Division in Minuwangoda Divisional Secretariat in Gampaha.
The total cost of this centre is Rs. 200 million. The first phase of this project will be implemented at a cost of RS.50 million and the cost of the second phase will be Rs. 150 million, sources added.(Info Dept)
