The United States will support a resolution in the UN Human Rights Council in March that Sri Lanka has not done enough to implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), US  Assistant Secretary South and Central Asian Affairs Rober O. Blake said today.

He said that’s the US government’s position was discussed with President Mahinda Rajapaksa when US Under secretary – Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Maria Otero met.

Ms Otero said that she confirmed to president Rajapasa that its government will support a resolution in the UN Human Rights Council in March on addressing accountability and human rights issues.

She  told a news conference in Colombo that the resolution also provides an opportunity for the government of Sri Lanka to describe what it intends to do to implement the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations.
