The NGO Secretariat which comes under the Defence Ministry has named an interim body to take control of a non-governmental organisation plagued with allegations of corruption and malpractice.The three member interim body comprises Brigader Jayashantha Gamage,
Brigade Commander of the 143 Division in Puttalam, Assistant District Secretary W.A.R. Wickremesinghe and an accountant in the District Secretariat.
The organization known as the Community Trust Fund based in Puttalam earlier ran into a controversy when its head disappeared after he was reportedly abducted in the Polonnaruwa area last year.
Since the abduction of the NGO head identified as Pattani Razik there was a series of allegations of corruption in the organization prompting the appointment of the interim body. On Friday the interim Committee took over administration of the NGO.
